Who are We?

Our Story

String Theory is a chamber music series bringing inspiring evenings of the best chamber music to the Hunter Museum of American Art. Offering superb musical performances in an artistically satisfying setting, this series will feature some of the world’s most sought after musicians. Their artistry creates dynamic musical dialogues that leaves audiences spellbound. The one-hour concerts include chamber classics as well as music of our time. Presenting intimate music in a museum setting has long been a tradition at prestigious institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. This series has already become part of the cultural fabric of Chattanooga. Founded in 2009 by pianist, Gloria Chien, String Theory aspires to expose new audiences to chamber music, invigorate the local classical music scene, and cultivate a future generation of music lovers.
